STRUCTURE:
Our meetings are held monthly, at 7:30 p.m. on the third Friday
of each month except December. Meetings are held at the
Roundtable Pizza in Redmond. We do allow non-Datsun-owning people to join as Associate
members. The meetings are run according to "Bob's Rules of Order." This is
similar to Robert's Rules of Order, only considerably less formal.
Membership costs $24/year US for a single, $29 for a couple. All
memberships expire at the end of December. There is a one-time $10 initiation fee that
covers license plate frames and jacket patch. Associate memberships are available for
those people who wish to join the club but don't own a Datsun. Membership fees are the
same for Associate memberships. You can download this membership application
form, or a letter requesting membership along with the fee is sufficient. Please
include make, model and year information on your car(s).
Thank you,
Gordon Glasgow
Northwest Datsun Enthusiasts |
HISTORY :
We are a small club, currently 30 - 50 members, centered in the Puget Sound area. The club
was founded in 1978 by a few autoslalom enthusiasts (myself included) who noticed that
there were lots of marque clubs in the area (Porsche, Triumph, MG, Mustang, BMW, etc.),
but no Datsun club. Our original emphasis was autoslalom competition, not by definition
but simply by majority interest. Our dedication is to the preservation and enjoyment of
all automotive activities, particularly those involving Datsun/Nissan vehicles.
As time went on, our membership
grew and the new members wanted to include more activities than just cone-busting. We
branched out to include rallies and other events that were more family-oriented. We have
always tried to be responsive to the immediate interests of our membership.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES:
I feel our
current
activities provide a good balance of interests for both the competitive and
non-competitive car enthusiast. We participate in and sponsor autoslaloms,
rallies, tours,
car shows, parties and even some non-automotive activities like visits to the local zoo,
aquarium and science center. We are a member of the Western Washington Sports Car Council
(an autoslalom sanctioning body) and the Northwest Rally Council (a rally sanctioning
body).
We publish a (theoretically) monthly newsletter
called the
NWDEletter
and provide our members
with a good network of support for resolving technical problems, locating parts and
generally helping out in whatever way we can. We have negotiated parts discounts at
several local Nissan dealerships. Most of our current members have 510's, several have
Roadsters and a few have Z's, although this balance changes over time. |
