wow, that's a good idea for finding a drain Hainz. I emailed him about this. The 280zx has some relays that actually control the charging system, and tell the alternator when to "kick in" after you start the car. Its set for a certain rpm. If that gets screwed up, then it will stay at about 9-10v and not jump up to 14.4
That was messed up on my car when I bought it. Once the charging kicks in, it also turns off the idiot light tests which seem to be coming on slowly on his car.
